Healthy gums ensure that the teeth are firmly held in place in order to fulfil their function.

The disease that affects the gums is called Periodontal Disease (or pyorrhoea) and consists of two stages:

If left untreated the periodontitis progresses, initiates dental mobility and can lead to the loss of your teeth.

The existence of periodontal infections is related to a higher risk of suffering from cerebrovascular and cardiovascular illnesses, particularly myocardial infarction, respiratory problems, diabetes, complications in birth (premature and underweight babies).
